Тake your chance and make your special order: a portrait. 

 

     Your order will be performed by professional artists – graduates and students of the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture at the Russian Academy of Arts, represented on our Web site www.academart.com. Portraits are one of main subjects in creative work of these artists. A wide variety of the creative manners in making portraits you can see on our web site.

 All ordered artworks shall be originating from authors and performed in oil-on-linen technique. Other techniques e.g. tempera or acrylic painting, collage etc. could be also applied as agreed with the customer. Besides, you may order graphics works and sculpture.

The procedure of ordering:

1. Where should I send my order to?

2. What information do you need to start processing my order?

We need information on the preferred type of a portrait (head, bust, half-length portrait, full-length portrait), technique and dimensions. We also need to receive the pictures from you. You may either describe what you want to order or provide us with digital reproductions or pictures of the preferred art works. We could provide you with our ideas and versions in compliance with your artistic preferences. 

3. What photo should be used?
It is highly desirable, that you send a professional photo, which demonstrates every tiny detail. You can send an ordinary or a digital photo, if it is clear enough. Please, send us several photos taken at different angles, if possible.

 

4. What a style and artistic manner can I choose?

You may select an artist to order the painting to. Otherwise, we could pick up the author from our extra data base according to your stylistic (artistic) preferences.

 

5. If I am able to control the procedure of implementation of order?
Yes, for sure, we shall inform you on the procedure of performance of the art work, which you have ordered. First, we’ll agree with you the sketch of the future painting. Afterwards, we shall provide you with photos of main steps of the work.

6. How long it will take to complete my order?
Creating commission portrait will take one to three weeks depending on dimensions, technique and the number of details in the painting. More detailed information on terms will be provided after you have made your order and specified special requests.

7. How can I pay for my order?
We shall determine the price of order according to preferred specification of the one. The first payment amounts to 30% of the price of order. Final settlement shall be completed after negotiation of final stage of the work. The finished work shall be shipped after receipt of final payment. Please, find additional information on

8. How is a painting packed for delivery?
We can ship the work either in roll or on the stretcher. In both cases, the painting will be thoroughly packed with the special packing materials for safe and careful transportation.

Alhambra's garden

         

The style of the portrait has been predetermined by the customer, who took great interest in oriental art. The main goal was to create not a portrait per se, but a painting full of art associations. The selection of the Alhambra historical gardens as the landscape background greatly contributed to achievement of this goal.

The painting is maintained in silver-grayish, metallic colors as desired by the customer.

             
         

Mimicking of historical authenticity was not the author’s task. Accordingly, various iconographic sources have been investigated, and the oriental dress from A.-L. Gerodet painting “Revolt of Cairo” (1810).

The main steps in creation of the painting are as following:

making of sketch on linen

 3.

 

specification of the composition’s details and elaboration of image in

colors

4.

 

making changes in the painting’s colors accordingly customer’s desires and introducing additional details specifying the portrait’s content; finishing the painting surface in glazing technique, filling in with additional accessories highlighting the decorative purport of the painting
